Pokémon 30th Celebration is officially available today. Well, so long as you can get any stock. UK retailers have already had drops that have sold out within minutes, and while the allure of those SIRs may have escaped you, let me introduce you to the Mew ex RGB cards. These ultra rare chases haven’t been officially revealed, yet one has already sold for $20,000.
That’s not a typo. While many of us are still waiting on our Pokémon 30th Celebration pre-orders to arrive (or in some cases, seeing them delayed), some of the biggest Pokémon 30th Celebration chase cards are already being listed on eBay. Most of these are known now, but the RGB Mew ex cards have been left as mysterious possibilities - one that’s now sold for a hefty sum.
There’s reportedly three versions - Red, Green, and Blue - making up the Mew ex RGB rarity. Only one of the blue versions has been sold so far, at the tune of $20,000 (roughly £14,800 in good ol’ great British pounds). Of course, that could be the typical Pokémon TCG launch hype, but with so few listings, it’s a good sign at how rare these cards may be.
With various products like the Pokémon 30th Celebration UPCs staggered across months, many of these RGB cards may not appear online for a while. Even PokéBeach’s reporting of the cards suggest they may remain unrevealed by The Pokémon Company for months. Depending on the pull rate, these are likely some of the rarest Pokémon cards to pull.
If you do manage to get one, you’ll still have another two you need to be lucky enough to get or you’ll have to buy them, which could make the hope of a master set even more difficult than expected. With stock shortages still looming, well, I wish you luck.
