About Kanto Post

Founded in 2026 by Callum Self, Kanto Post is an independent publication covering the Pokémon Trading Card Game, Pokémon video games, collecting culture, and the wider Pokémon community.

From breaking news and market analysis to features and guides, Kanto Post aims to deliver reporting that goes beyond headlines and explores the stories that matter to collectors and fans.

Founder’s Story

Hi, I’m Callum Self, founder and Editor-in-Chief of Kanto Post.

I’ve worked in games journalism for more than six years, with bylines across publications including IGN, PCGamesN, Wargamer, Pocket Tactics, UploadVR, and Gfinity. During that time, I’ve written thousands of articles covering gaming, technology, virtual reality, and collecting culture.

For more than a year, I specialised in Pokémon TCG coverage at Wargamer. That role allowed me to combine two things I’ve always loved: journalism and Pokémon. Whether I was analysing card market trends, reviewing products, covering industry news, or exploring collecting culture, my goal was always the same: to find the story behind the story.

When my role ended in 2026 following a company restructure, I decided to build something of my own. To help fund the launch of Kanto Post, I sold part of my personal Pokémon card collection and invested the proceeds into creating an independent publication dedicated to the hobby and community I care about most.
