These adorable Pokémon pet accessories make your dog look like a real Trainer’s partner
I got to try some of the new Pokémon pet accessories with my own dog, and they’re every bit as charming as you’d expect.
I’ve spent years writing about Pokémon games and the Pokémon TCG, but pet accessories are a new one for me. I couldn’t tell you what makes an award-winning harness, but I do know Pokémon, and these officially licensed accessories are packed with the kind of personality that’s hard for a franchise fanatic like me to say no to.
The latest Pokémon pet collection includes everything from harnesses and leads to blankets, beds, bowls, collars, and toys. I was sent the blue Pokémon harness, matching lead, and two can covers, and after putting them to use with my Cockapoo, Leia, it’s hard not to wish every pet product looked this good. The only issue is, it looks so fantastic, I want some matching attire myself.
The biggest highlight is the artwork. Featuring illustrations by James Turner, the accessories are covered in colourful Pokémon designs that feel playful, packed with plenty of fan-favourites like Pikachu snuggling on a Snorlax bed or Yamper playing with a ball. It’s the sort of artwork that instantly stands out, with a vibrant iconography that brings that childlike whimsy of the franchise to life.
I’ll start with the can covers, which feature Skitty and Munchlax. They simply press onto the top of opened food cans and peel away just as easily when it’s time for another meal. I’ve mostly been using the Munchlax version, as it somehow feels like the perfect mascot for dog food, while the Skitty design would probably be right at home in a cat owner’s kitchen.
Each cover has multiple inner ridges to fit different can sizes, making them genuinely practical. They’ll probably fit plenty of ordinary food tins too, although I’ll leave that experiment for someone else.
The matching harness and lead are where the collection really comes together. Both feature the same repeating Pokémon pattern, giving them a coordinated look without feeling too busy. The materials feel durable, the stitching is solid, and they feel easy to clip on. I appreciated the little Poké Ball on the buckle, which felt like a solid way to round it off.
Most importantly, Leia seemed perfectly comfortable wearing the harness. It was easy to adjust, stayed secure throughout our walks, and, perhaps most importantly - made her look every bit like a Pokémon Trainer’s partner.
I wasn’t expecting to have strong opinions about dog accessories, but this collection won me over. They’re well made, and filled with enough Pokémon charm to make daily walks that little bit more fun. Sure, maybe my dog is now a walking billboard for Pokémon marketing, but in the same breath, she looks so cute.
Now I just need an excuse to buy the enormous Snorlax bed. Although if one ends up in my house, there’s every chance I’ll be fighting the dog for it.
