New exclusive Psyduck Pokémon card is so adorable that I’m sad it’s not in English

Chinese-exclusive Pokémon cards are some of my most-wanted collectibles, and the new Misty’s Psyduck from Gem Pack Vol. 7 might be one of the most adorable yet.

When it comes to Pokémon cards, I’m always a sucker for adorable artwork. And while I love chasing the latest Special Illustration Rares, some of my most-wanted cards are the ones you can’t simply pick up in an English booster pack. That’s why the newly revealed Misty’s Psyduck from China’s upcoming Gem Pack Vol. 7 has caught my attention. It’s ridiculously cute, and I’m already sad that there’s no English version in sight.

This free Pokémon browser game has completely hijacked my morning
PokéDefense has become part of my morning ritual, adding a Pokémon twist to the classic tower defence genre. And, honestly, I’m not sure I want to stop playing.

Exclusive Pokémon TCG cards have always been an interesting part of collecting. Whether they’re promos handed out at tournaments or cards released for specific regions, there’s something special about owning artwork that not everyone can easily get their hands on. Chinese-exclusive Pokémon cards have become a particular interest of mine, and with the seventh Gem Pack release on the way, there’s another adorable card to add to my ever-growing wishlist.

The new Misty’s Psyduck has pretty much everything I want from a Pokémon card. The Water-type Pokémon is relaxing on a sun lounger with a beach ball, while Misty hangs out in the background. It’s a simple, summery scene, but that’s exactly why I love it. Psyduck looks perfectly content, and the artwork has the kind of charm that makes me want to put the card straight into a binder. I’m clearly not the only one who thinks so, either. With the card exclusive to the Simplified Chinese release, I imagine plenty of other collectors will be hoping to get their hands on it.

Misty's Psyduck Pokemon card from the Pokemon TCG Gem Pack Vol. 7 in Simplified Chinese

Gem Packs are a particularly interesting part of the Pokémon TCG because they offer more than just another collection of cards to open. Released in Simplified Chinese, these special sets feature distinctive holographic finishes and artwork that can be exclusive to the Chinese market. Previous volumes have included cards you won’t find in English or Japanese Pokémon sets, making them an appealing option for collectors who want something a little different.

Gem Pack Vol. 7 launches in China on Friday, 6 November 2026, the same day as Pokémon Delta Reign. Each booster pack contains four holographic cards, with 28 different Pokémon featured across the set. There are also six different holographic variations for each Pokémon, alongside an Illustration Rare for each one. That gives collectors plenty to chase, even before you get to the new Misty’s Psyduck artwork.

Personally, I’ve wanted to start collecting Chinese Pokémon cards for quite some time, but I haven’t quite got around to it yet. Perhaps Gem Pack Vol. 7 will finally be the excuse I need to start filling a Chinese binder. Even better, there’s a matching Psyduck mini binder available alongside the set, which feels like suspiciously convenient timing for someone who has just fallen in love with a Psyduck card. My wallet probably won't thank me, but my collection certainly will.
