5th July: The original story claimed the UPCs were £120 each, making the promos £240 together. Recent reports suggest each UPC will be £180\. I’ve updated the article to reflect.

The Eeveelutions have been in the spotlight for years, becoming the most sought-after **Pokémon cards** for collectors. All you need to do is check the Evolving Skies and Prismatic Evolutions prices to see that they become instantly unaffordable for most as soon as they leave a wrapper. Now, **Pokémon 30th Celebration** is bringing new Umbreon and Espeon promos to English collectors. They’re guaranteed rather than pack pulls, but getting both won’t come cheap.

While the [Pokémon 30th Celebration pre-orders](https://www.kantopost.com/pokemon-tcg/pokemon-30th-celebration-pre-orders-release-date-and-set-guide/) have yet to begin, I know that any box containing Umbreon will be an instant purchase for many. Like moths to a flame, or cultists to a moon, [Pokémon TCG](https://www.kantopost.com/tag/pokemon-tcg/) collectors are drawn to the Dark-type Eeveelution.

The promos, which I [wrote about last month](https://www.kantopost.com/pokemon-tcg/umbreon-card-30th-deck-box/), were first revealed for the Japanese Pokémon 30th Celebration Premium Deck, with both Umbreon and Espeon as promos. This collection retails for 6,200 yen, which is roughly £29 / $38.

In the West, we don’t have both promos neatly tucked away inside one little collection. Instead, you’ll need to buy TWO Ultra Premium Collections to own both Umbreon and Espeon. For UK collectors, that’s a 727% increase over the Japanese box - which to put it lightly, is absurd.

Admittedly, you also get 30 packs in each, so 60 packs in total. That alone makes the price worth it. But compared to how cheap the promos are in Japan, it’s still a massive difference. Perosnally, I was hopeful it would be in the Deck Boxes, so I didn’t have to pay a small fortune.

I was hoping I could get both promos in some fairly cheap collection boxes. Spending £360 is a big ask for some collectors, especially when it runs out of stock and goes high in market price. You’ll have to up your budget for this set, to say the least.

Of course, it’s not an apples to oranges comparison. The Day and Night UPCs also have the Futuristic Rare Pikachu cards, one of each, per box. Those are both 27,500 yen in one box in Japan, which is around £127 / $169\. Even taking that into account, we’re still paying more than Japanese collectors, and with [limits imposed](https://www.kantopost.com/pokemon-tcg/japan-30th-limits/) on the upcoming products in Japan, well, the English [Pokémon set](https://www.kantopost.com/pokemon-tcg/sets/) is our best bet. Good luck.

The decks from Japan are also available in the English line up, with two separate Deck Boxes focused on Umbreon and Espeon, respectively. However, the promos included with these are Zeraora and Victini, weirdly. Could’ve at least put the Eeveelutions in those, The Pokémon Company.

Either way, it’s nice to know it’s not going to be a chase card, making it hard to get in packs that will inevitably go out of stock. However, I’m here to help you get stock, so make sure to sign up to our newsletter to get notified on new drops.
